A Flawless Fragrance

British Fragrance house Jo Malone is synonymous with the art of fragrance blending. Not only are many of their fragrances intriguing mixes of delicious notes, including spicy, floral, citrus, fruity or woody to name a few, each and all of the scents are perfect for layering so you can create your own signature combination or combinations.

Their newest fragrance is Vanilla & Anise and it is one to treasure.

The top notes of Sicilian Bergamot, Tunisian Neroli, Wild Fennel Flower and Star Anise are the first to arouse your senses. Middle notes of Oleander, Tuberose, Frangipani and Purple Vanilla Orchid are next, followed by base notes of Madagascar Clove, White Amber. Vetiver Bourbon, Vanilla Bourbon Absolute and Tonka. The result is a soft scent with a powerful pleasurable effect.

The balance of heady spices and warm vanilla in Vanilla and Anise is especially enchanting this time of year as we segue, not always smoothly, from crisp/warm Autumn to frigid/thawing Winter to confused Spring. One spray of Vanilla Anise and you will find yourself in your own perfect season.

  1. This sounds absolutely heavenly! I'll bet I'm the first to read this--I will definitely try this.

  2. I first discovered Jo Malone fragrances at Heathrow in the fall of 2007. I sampled several of the fragrances, all very pricey because the dollar was at an historic low, but liked none so much as Nectarine Blossom & Honey Cologne, a sweet-scented floral spray. I waited until I hit the States to purchase it at a more moderate price and have been wearing it ever since. I recommend purchase of a package that Jo Malone puts together that combines the scent with a body cream and bath gel.

  3. A visit to any Jo Malone shop is a transporting, not to mention therapeutic, experience. The staff is extremely helpful and quite willing to load you up with sample scents. After a recent visit to the store on Madison Avenue, across from the Whitney Museum, I came home with four divine sample vials--White Jasmine & Mint, Lime Basil & Mandarin, and two of the newest fragrance, Vanilla & Anise. The scents are lasting and, as Fragrance Fanatic has indicated, can be layered to create one's own peculiar blend.
